thrashed reality is the response of a few members of the underground scene
to the scene's declining level of activity. it is an attempt to cure this
ailment the best way we know how; through conversation.
if you want to stand by and watch the underground computer scene die, go
right ahead. look the scene that you grew up with right in the face and
let it know that you don't give a fuck if it disappears forever. but if
you believe that this scene is too special to become a thing of the past,
then i encourage you to subscribe to this mailing list.
i do not believe that this is the magical cure for all of the problems the
scene is facing today. everyone knows that recently there has been a severe
lack of new faces, new groups, and group activity. however, i do believe
in stimulating conversation and developing unity inside of the existing
underground scene. i believe that by doing this, the scene we all know and
love has a chance to rebuild itself to a higher level of activity. i believe
that through communication among ALL of the underground scene, including
all genres of art, coding, and music, we can create new projects and develop
new ideas beyond the rusted old boundaries of the scene today.
"but zerostar, it'll never work!" - well, in the words of the hardcore band
minor threat, "you tell me i make no difference - but at least i'm fuckin'
trying".
so, let's band together, as a community, to kick-start the scene that we have
all worked so hard for, the scene that we have all grown to love.

| What's that? I'm sorry, say that again? (Davek) |
The reason the scene is "dying", as you've stated is because nobody new is coming in. There are a lot of people still around, still doing whatever it is they've been doing for x amount of years. It's the ones who have been out of it for awhile, who never really had a strong footing in the scene who always proclaim that the scene is dead/dying. They're also the ones who tend to believe they're going to be the "scene saviour" with their stupid and futile attempts to revive something, that for all intents in purposes, is doing pretty good for having little to no real value anymore.
So go ahead, attempt your little "revival" project like everyone wants to do these days. If you were really in touch with the scene, you'd know there's no need for a stupid mailing list in order to facilitate conversation. You'd know there are still a lot of scene people still around, and you'd know where to find them if you wanted to talk to them.
The scene doesn't need your attempts to be the saviour.

davek, i'm not trying to be a "scene saviour". i would just like to see a bit more activity in what i consider to be a very inactive scene. i expected critisism when i decided to tell people about this. but with only two or three groups across the entire scene still releasing, i don't understand your logic in the statement " There are a lot of people still around, still doing whatever it is they've been doing for x amount of years". i respect your opinion, but i'm just trying to help create some activity within the scene any way i can. i would encourage you to do the same. -zs
